Taikata Sailing club is a family club formed in 1957. The club is one of the foremost center board sailing club in Waitakere City ensuring good sailing for young and old alike. Taikata sailing club (TSC) encourages everyone interested to pursue sailing in a spirit which will enrich their lives and the lives of fellow sailors and their families.
Sailing on the largely protected waters of the upper Waitemata Habour permits the less experienced to enjoy the professionally arranged training programmes, while the more experienced can enjoy competitive sailing at its very best.
Taikata Sailing club places a strong emphasis on a very well recognised junior training program. The learn to sail and the follow up learn to race program are taken by professional coaches. Taikata has recently received a substantial grant from the ASB Trust for the purchase of new Optimist training boats.
The mains classes race at Taikata are, Optimist, P class, Laser, Sunburst and Frostbite. The Sunburst and Frostbite fleets are often the largest club senior racing fleets in Auckland.
The club runs a full compliment of patrol boats, four in total which are manned and maintained by committed and supportive non sailing club members.
