Athletics Wellington Inc Organisation Profile

Athletics Wellington is the Centre which administers and co-ordinates the sport of Athletics in the southern part of the North Island, including the Kapiti Coast and the Wairarapa. It is part of Athletics New Zealand.

The Centre operates through a group of sub-committees, devoted to:

* Track & Field
* Road & Cross Country (including walking and Mountain Running)
* Junior Athletics (ages 7 to 14)
* Master's Athletics

Athletics in the Region is serviced through 20 autonomous clubs. Some provide the sport just for children, others for the summer or winter forms of the sport and some cover all aspects for all divisions.

The Centre selects teams or entries for:

* NZ Track & Field Championships
* NZ Cross Country Championships
* North Island Cross Country Championships
* NZ Road Championships (running and walking)
* NZ Mountain Running Championships
* NZ Marathon and Half Marathon Championships
* Colgate Children's Interprovincial Games
* Colgate Junior Interprovincial Games

Clubs also enter their own teams for:

* Colgate Children's Games
* NZ Road Relay Championships
* North Island Cross Country Championships
* National Teams Competition (Track & Field), and the associated
* Central Regional Teams Competition
