Description
WELCOME TO BAY OF PLENTY BADMINTON
Badminton is one of the world's fastest racquet sports, requiring quick reflexes and superb physical conditions. If it's a good aerobic workout you are looking for, step out onto the Badminton court.
Faster than a game of tennis, players can burn up to 1,000 calories an hour. How? It is the constantly and highly concentrated action of running, jumping, twisting, stretching, running backwards, swinging and striking.
A FUN GAME
Most importantly, Badminton is lots of fun and players - with even a moderate amount of skill - can jump right in and enjoy not only the social aspects of team play but also the fantastic health benefits of a great cardiovascular workout.
WHO CAN PLAY
Badminton is easy to learn and anyone from school enthusiasts to well into senior years can start with simple volleys back and forth, and graduating to faster and more advanced games as they refine their skills.
VISITORS AND SPECTATORS ARE MOST WELCOME AT ALL OF OUR CLUBS.
Don't worry if you haven't got a racquet, there are enough rackets at the Clubs for you to use.
Bay of Plenty Badminton has been active as an Association for over 60 years. There are affiliated Clubs throughout the Bay of Plenty in such places as Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, Te Puke, Whakatane, Rotorua, Kawerau, Awakeri, Opotiki, Taupo and Turangi. The Rotorua Badminton Hall is the home for the Bay of Plenty Association. Have a look at the section titled 'CLUBS' for further information.
During winter the Badminton Hall is used for Club Nights, InterClubs, Inter Associations and various other activities. The Hall is also home to the three Rotorua clubs Utuhina, Rotorua and Hinemoa.
The Badminton Hall is located in Tarewa Place, Rotorua.
