The Orcas successfully defended the AIHA SNC "A" Pool title, winning the championship for 2006. Congratulations to the team, and to Mike Dobbs, named MVP of the final with 2 goals and an assist.

Club History
The Orcas ice hockey team competes in the "A" Pool of the AIHA Senior League recreational competition in Auckland, New Zealand.

The team was formed in 1995, finished first in the regular season that year, but lost in the playoffs. In 1996 the team clinched the Senior League championship, and in 1997 it placed third.

An exodus to Premier grade and inline hockey left the team light on numbers in 1998, and with a mainly rookie roster, the Orcas did not make the playoffs. In 1999 the team placed a modest 6th.

In 2000 and 2001, the Orcas attracted several overseas players, but were not competitive. Placing second during the 2001 regular season, the Orcas lost consecutive playoff games to place 4th overall.

2002 brought an influx of new players, and despite a mediocre regular season the Orcas made it to the semis in 2003 and did so again (this time as regular season champs) in 2004. The team was beaten in the semis by the Pirates and Manuwai respectively.

In 2005 the Orcas again won the regular season, and then beat Manuwai 10-2 in the final to clinch the championship for the first time since 1996.
